George Hugh Nicholas Seton-Watson (Londres, 1916-Washington, 1984) fue un historiador británico, hijo de R. W. Seton-Watson y hermano de Christopher Seton-Watson, con quienes compartió profesión.

Biografía

Nació en Londres el 15 de febrero de 1916,[1]​ hijo de R. W. Seton-Watson, teniendo como hermano a Christopher Seton-Watson.[2]​[3]​[1]​ Tras estudiar en Winchester y en el New College de Oxford,[4]​ se especializaría en el estudio de la historia de Europa del Este.[5]​ Durante los primeros años de la Segunda Guerra Mundial ejerció como diplomático en Bucarest y Belgrado, y más tarde ingresó en la Dirección de Operaciones Especiales, para la que trabajaría en Estambul y El Cairo en labores de inteligencia.[6]​ Durante una etapa temprana en su vida «idealizó» a la Unión Soviética, pero a finales de la Segunda Guerra Mundial ya se había desilusionado con esta.[7]​ En 1951 se hizo con la cátedra de Historia Rusa en la Universidad de Londres.[8]​ Falleció en Washington el 19 de diciembre de 1984.[2]​[5]​
